Winkin, Blinkin, and Nod one night
Sailed off in a wooden shoe —
Well, actually, what happened was they were born - along with their brother Clarence - in a boat. When the boat's owner found them, he brought them, not in a boat but in a paper sack, to Petco. Newborn kittens a few days old with their umbilical cords still attached don't have much chance of survival without their mother, unless an experienced and dedicated foster can bottle feed them every two hours for several weeks. The stars smiled on our boat kitties, though, for at the very moment they were brought to the store in their paper sack, a woman experienced with bottle babies was there, buying food for her dogs. She contacted FFGW, and we said of course we would take them under our protection and help them find forever homes.
Then down from the skies came the wooden shoe,
Bringing the fishermen home;
'Twas all so pretty a sail
it seemed
As if it could not be,
And some folks thought 'twas a dream they'd dreamed
Of sailing that beautiful sea —
But I shall name you the fishermen three (well, four):
Winkin, Blinkin, Nod and Clarence.
**notes from foster**
I have been fostering this baby since she was 3 days old. I bottle fed her and her siblings. Winkin likes to be held like a baby when sleeping. She is very active and loves her people. She plays well with her siblings and is very persistent when she wants to be held.
