Gracie was abandoned when her people moved out of their DC apartment last spring. A neighbor began feeding her and then took her in when she realized that the kitty was pregnant, not just getting chubby. Just a few days later, Gracie gave birth to 6 (!!!) kittens. But seven cats were too much for the rescuer's cat-allergic roommates, and the "little" family had to go. Gracie was a wonderful mom to her kittens, but was rather shy and retiring. She rarely interacted with her foster parents and absolutely avoided their cats. But since her last two kittens were adopted a few weeks ago, Gracie has really come out of her shell. She's made friends with the other adult cats in the house and snoozes on the bed with them while foster mom and dad are at work. And in the evenings, she not only accepts affection with grateful purrs, but actually DEMANDS petting! Her latest discovery is how nice it is to join everybody--cats and humans-- in bed at night. All she needs now is a family of her own.
