During the Baltimore riots, Chynna ended up at the shelter with a badly broken leg. We rushed to the city for the pretty little girl in a big blue splint. Chynna was terrified of her splinted leg, and we decided that surgery was the best way to speed her recovery. Chynna still had two months of strict confinement ahead, but her mood lightened the second that scary splint came off! Chynna especially loved breaks from the cage when she could snuggle on her foster dad's lap (he’s a very good daddy and made sure she had lots of breaks). Sky and her babies moved in during Chynna’s recovery and “The Big Girls” became instant friends. They would play together whenever Sky could get away from the kittens. At first, they could only play footsie through the cage, but once off cage rest, Chynna literally leapt in to help raise the kittens, taking turns washing them from top to bottom, playing with them, even racing to check when she heard kitten cries. Chynna’s bond with Sky and the kittens is especially touching, because she is otherwise leery of new feline friends and was slow be comfortable around the family’s resident cats. On the other paw, Chynna loves people! She is extremely sociable with visitors, and enjoys playing with her foster parent's 8-year old nephew. She is young & active, loves to play with lasers & string toys and will run and climb as much as she can. Chynna is a big scratcher but happily directs her attention to the many scratching posts, cat trees, and catnip scratching boxes her foster parents provide. Chynna would LOVE to be adopted with Sky or with one (or more) of the kittens. Don’t worry if you have other cats: Sky and her kittens are so quick to warm up to older cats that Chynna will soon follow their example.
