|
Khan is the biggest boy in a litter of nine. He was the first to climb out of the kitten pen, and once he discovered his climbing power, he was done with the pen and wanted nothing more than to escape and cuddle with his foster mom.
His foster mom calls him her "little old man" because, although he can play and run like all kittens, he radiates the zen-like calm of an older lap cat. Seriously, Khan loves, loves, loves to curl up with his humans. Even when playing, he'll check in frequently for a quick pet and cuddle before racing off to return to the games.
Although Khan is the biggest of his litter, he is small for his age due to his mother's inability to produce enough milk for all 9 kittens. Even though 4 of the 9 were a full week younger and all were smaller, Khan was gentle with his siblings from the day he arrived. When he was ready to wrestle, he tried pouncing on the little ones, but backed off quickly when he realized they weren't ready. His kind nature is striking, even for an orange boy.
Khan loves people, but he'll do best if adopted with one (or more) of his siblings or his foster mom, Sky or honorary aunt, Chynna. Like all kittens, he loves to play and he has never spent a minute alone. He is always snuggled up with someone, or playing with one of his many siblings.
Khan asked us to tell you a little bit about his Mommy Sky and Auntie Chynna:
Tiny Sky arrived at an urban shelter just 10 months old with 9 kittens in tow, 8 orange boys and 1 brown tabby girl. They were surrendered by an elderly lady who could no longer care for herself, let alone her multiple, mainly orange, kitties. Only 4 of the 9 kittens are Sky’s own; she adopted 5 who had been abandoned by one of her “cousins”. (Yes, that means that Sky is a foster kitten AND a foster mom.) Although Sky was nursing almost 24 hours a day, she was unable to make enough milk for the babies, and she and the babies were very underweight. The babies were barely the size of 1 to 2 week old kittens, yet their eyes were all open and they could climb and do things kittens do at 3-4 weeks! Supplemental bottle feedings from foster mom and dad allowed the babies to catch up. Foster sister Chynna (also avai lable for adoption) is honorary auntie to all the kittens.
UPDATE July 18, 2015: Our distinctly unwrathful but amazingly najestic for a kitten Khan was adopted with his brother & BFF Skywalker!! We are so happy!!!!
