UPDATE August 16, 2015: Little Lucy has been adopted! Not with one of her own brothers, but she has a big brother: Adidas, who was adopted from FFGW in 2011! She also as a big sister kitty, a mommy, a daddy and two human siblings too! Congratulations Lucy!
The only girl in a litter of nine, little Lucy is a firecracker. She's tiny but (literally) runs circles around her bigger brothers. She's the highest jumper, the best at playing keep away, loves to run and climb, and is quick to explore. When her foster family's 8-year old ran "Kitten Camp" she was the star pupil, learning new games and playing until she could not stay awake one more second. She hates to miss anything and will always be found where the action is. She simply does NOT understand why kittens need to stay in the kitten room and will run out to find her people the second the door opens.
Lucy is a charmer and when the babies were being bottle fed, she'd insist on being fed first - and often wheedled an extra bottle. Although she also had the benefit of her feline Mom, the bottle feedings gave her a head start on socialization. She loves her people, and loves to be held, carried, and petted. She and her younger brother Major Tom bonded tightly and are often found playing or snuggling together. Their buddy Ziggy Stardust would love to be adopted with them.
Lucy asked us to tell you a little bit about her Mommy Sky and Auntie Chynna:
Tiny Sky arrived at an urban shelter just 10 months old with 9 kittens in tow, 8 orange boys and 1 brown tabby girl. They were surrendered by an elderly lady who could no longer care for herself, let alone her multiple, mainly orange, kitties. Only 4 of the 9 kittens are Sky’s own; she adopted 5 who had been abandoned by one of her “cousins”. (Yes, that means that Sky is a foster kitten AND a foster mom.) Although Sky was nursing almost 24 hours a day, she was unable to make enough milk for the babies, and she and the babies were very underweight. The babies were barely the size of 1 to 2 week old kittens, yet their eyes were all open and they could climb and do things kittens do at 3-4 weeks! Supplemental bottle feedings from foster mom and dad allowed the babies to catch up. Foster sister Chynna (also avai lable for adoption) is honorary auntie to all the kittens.
