Last fall, like far too many kitties each year, Smudgy’s mom was abandoned on a local military base, and soon became pregnant. Muddy gave birth alone, out in the cold, and, sadly, all but one of her kittens died. Muddy and Smudgy, surely would have been next but for a happy turn of fate: on a cold January night, baby Smudgy found a tiny hole in the wall of a building. Smudgy got in, but she couldn’t get out and began screaming for her mother. Muddy began screaming, too. The residents were cat lovers and raced outside to try to help. Before long, the couple had rigged up a heated shelter for the girls in the shed, and then found FFGW to take them in. Pretty Smudgy is a live wire who, after a few minutes of uncertainty, will just scream to be cuddled and held. And in between cuddles, she wants to P-L-A-Y! Smudgy just loves attention from the “big kids”—her foster parents’ cats. Smudgy will make a wonderful addition to any cat family! Smudgy and Muddy don’t have to be adopted together.
