We knew that Squash was special, sensitive soul from the first moment we set eyes on him. A Good Samaritan spotted the tiny tabby quivering under a roadside bush, scooped him up and brought him to the local emergency vet hospital. Squash was so tiny he fit in his benefactor’s hands, where he sat, still as a mouse, taking in his new surroundings through his big gold eyes. No longer tiny, Squash is still gazing at the world through those golden eyes. And while we don't know of a single bad or scary thing that has happened to him (other than trips to the v-e-t for shots and neutering), Squash has grown up to be a super shy guy who holds back except with his foster mom and a small circle of trusted family friends. Squash isn't all  Mr. Milquetoast--in the company of trusted humans and felines, he can let loose and play like a krazy kat. But to meet that kitty, we're afraid you will have to be very patient and reassuring. He won't show this side of his personality to just anyone. Indeed, when you first meet, all you're likely to see is a trembling lump under a blanket or cat bed. Squash is used to other cats of all ages, the presence of dogs, and has exceptional little-brother potential for your cat-loving cat.  Squash is hoping for a super special someone willing to wait for him to let down his guard and come out of hiding. No matter how long it takes, Squash is worth waiting for.

And he was ... update August 2014: Squash has been adopted! He will have 3 orange and white brothers (2 also adopted from FFGW)  to help him adjust to his new home! If you listen hard, you'll hear us purring with happiness at this happy beginning for our darling Squash!
