One night in February 2010, a virtual neighborhood full of kids knocked on the neighborhood cat lady's (NCL) door with a horrifying tale to tell and the evidence right in their arms: an adorable tuxedo-clad kitty with a swollen rear leg had just been thrown from a second story apartment window! Happily, the NCL also works at a vet hospital. She brought the kitten, who she named Milo, to work the next morning. The doctors determined that he was about 6 months old & very healthy, except for a fractured femur that needed surgery right away. Happily, FFGW was able to sponsor Milo's surgery & found him a foster family. For 6 weeks, Milo was primarily confined to a cage (FFGW purple, of course!). He didn't like this, but adored being cuddled by his foster family & during supervised breaks from his cage, made fast friends with their youngest kitty, an FFGW adoptee. At first, Milo couldn't walk so the boys lay down, side-by-side, facing each other to play footsie. Eventually Milo got the hang of moving with his big splint, earning the nickname "Thumper" because of the telltale tap-tapping of his splint hitting the floor. Milo is now splint-free, getting stronger every day & ready for adoption. He'd be especially happy to have at least one young friend of the feline-persuasion to pal around with when not snuggling with his humans!
