About Batta- FIV Positive | |
|
|
One of his most charming traits is his vocalizations. If you like a cat who will have a pleasant conversation with you, look no further than Batta. He coos! He makes sounds like an owl, he greets you with a soft meow. He is quick to show his affection with a head butt and a rumbly purr ( like a ’65 mustang!).
The ideal adopter will provide Batta with vigorous play from time to time. He loves to chase a feather toy, but he is obsessed with a Cat Dancer! (If you haven’t seen this simple, inexpensive, miracle toy, please google it) Batta will track and chase a Cat Dancer for an hour without getting winded. He really relaxes and feels more comfortable after some play time with a wand toy; play is a great way to bond with any cat, and Batta really wants to show off his jumping and pouncing skills!
At 4-5 years old, Batta is a great cat for someone who has a busy life, but wants a low-key companion. He needs an adopter who will be patient with someone new to this country, learning a new language, who is learning to trust his people all over again. He has excellent litter box manners and is a good eater. In fact, at 14+ pounds, he is a muscular cat who must have developed his athleticism early. Batta, in Arabic, is an affectionate nickname, meaning “little duck” or “pumpkin,“ and he is aptly named.
If you are considering adopting a chill cat, who is happy to snuggle up while you watch the latest Netflix series or work on your laptop, here is your boy. It’s easy to fall in love with Batta, because he is trying sincerely to trust and navigate his new, American life. He’ll tell you all about it with his charming meows and cooing, if you listen carefully.
The FIV virus is not a reason not to adopt! It is not transmissible to people or to non-cat
species and is not a death sentence. It simply reduces a cat's immune system as the cat
ages, which can leave the cat more vulnerable to other feline infections later in life.
Cat to cat transmission does not occur with casual contact and it is not airborne.
Cats who are FIV+ live long, happy lives! Please check out the below informational links about FIV to understand why it is not a reason to shy away from adopting:
