Last fall, this luscious long haired black kitty found her way along a busy highway to an office complex in Stafford. The kind employees set up a feeding station outside their building and the cat became a sort of company mascot. But much as they loved seeing her every day, the employees worried as the weather got colder. Their worry turned to panic one day when the kitty showed up with what they thought was a horribly wounded jaw. Luckily, FFGW had a foster opening and was able to have one of the caretakers bring the kitty—who we named Avalon—to one of our vets. The wounded jaw turned out to be an ulcer and Avalon was deemed otherwise healthy. Now safe in foster care and almost completely healed (the ulcer was from an allergic condition and may recur), Avalon has proved to be a bossy little thing who just loves her foster parents. Avalon gets along very well with her foster family’s laid-back adult male cats, but not their Alpha-female, who met her match in Avalon.
