Minnie is one of the five girls in Marmee's litter. A petite tortie who is extremely loving, Minnie suffered a devestating infection to both of her eyes when she was five weeks old. The veterinary opthamologist who treated her held out little hope that there would be sight in either eye, particularly her left eye which sustained irreversible damage. He prescribed an intensive medication program for Minnie and then we hoped for the best. At her recent re-examination/check-up her opthamologist could not believe the miracle that had occurred for Minnie...she has complete and normal vision in her right eye, her left eye is healing and may retain some ability in the future to distinguish light from dark, Minnie has put on weight and is playing and wrestling with her littermates without any sign of her impairment interfering with normal kitten antics. Minnie may be visited by pre-approved applicants in her foster home, but will not be able to go to her furrever home until her recheck in mid to late June. She is very bonded with her littermate, Lulu, who is also available for adoption.
Update 06/10/09 - Minnie is looking so good. She is the most loving kitten, possibly due to all the handling during her eye infections. She sits on foster mom's shoulders, rubs noses with her, snuggles and never stops purring.
